Overview
Ordinary carbon steel loses toughness as temperature falls and can fracture rather than bend under impact. Low-temperature carbon steel pipe is made from fine-grained, impact-tested steel so that it stays tough at sub-zero operating temperatures, which is why it is specified for refrigerant and brine lines, cold-storage and blast-freezer plant, LPG and cryogenic gas handling, and process piping in cold environments.
